Dr. Ali Shojaei
Board Certified Orthodontist
BSc, DDS, MSc. (Ortho), FRCD (C)
People ask me why I love being an orthodontist. The ability to create confidence and positivity in people every day is the greatest reward and the reason I went into orthodontics and started my practice. Your smile is one of the first things that people notice about you and it is truly amazing how powerful it can be. By creating confident and beautiful smiles, I help people make the impression they want to present to the world, as well as allowing them to see themselves in the best light. I see transformed smiles and increased confidence each and every time I remove someone’s braces.
Education And Continuing Education
I attended the University of Toronto for 11 years where I obtained a Bachelor of Science (1994), Doctorate of Dental Surgery (2001), and Masters of Science in Orthodontics (2005). I completed a year of hospital residency at Sunnybrook and Women’s Hospital and I had the privilege of attending Harvard University to complete an orthodontic mini-residency from 2001-2002.
Part of staying current in the field is staying up-to-date with academics. I continue to teach surgical orthodontics in the graduate orthodontic program at the University of Toronto, Faculty of Dentistry in addition to working in my private practice in Aurora, Ontario.
I strive to provide excellent orthodontic treatment for my patients and believe continuing education is an integral part of my mission. There are constant clinical and scientific advancements in orthodontics, so my team and I regularly participate in continuing education programs, orthodontic conferences, and study club meetings to ensure we stay current with the latest technology. I also contribute to the advancements in my field by speaking and presenting to my colleagues and conducting seminars in the Greater Toronto Area. I have published numerous articles in dental and orthodontic journals as well.

Outside The Office
I thank the University of Toronto for providing me with a great education and for the opportunity to meet my wonderful wife back in 1994. We have since grown our family to include three beautiful boys (born in 2007, 2010, and 2015), who are full of energy and are the joy of our lives. You will often find me driving them to their various sporting events, academic activities, and to visit their grandparents!
There is no greater joy than spending time with my family; however, when time does permit, you can find me staying active by playing soccer, golf, working out at the gym, and racing cars. I love traveling all over the world and learning about different cultures and customs. I also enjoy reading books about psychology, non- verbal communication/body language, the purpose of life, and happiness.
