What is Invisalign?
Using Invisalign™ in Aurora for orthodontic treatment offers removable trays instead of the traditional ‘fixed’ braces to straighten and align teeth. These nearly invisible, removable and comfortable aligners allow you or your child to smile as much during treatment as you will when it is completed. Prescribed by Dr. Shojaei, and manufactured by Align Technology to Dr. Shojaei’s precise specifications, each set of trays fits the teeth perfectly and applies gentle pressure to move the teeth in the desired direction. Once each set of trays has completed the movement it was designed to, the next set of trays is worn. This continues until the teeth are in the ideal position for function and aesthetics.
Why You Should Consider Invisalign
One of the major benefits of using Invisalign™ aligners for orthodontic treatment is that they are nearly invisible. Another is that they are removable. This allows you or your child to continue to brush and floss as usual and does not place any restrictions on what the patient can eat. As the trays are made using (medical grade) plastic, they eliminate the ‘emergencies’ that come with braces coming off, rubbing against a lip or a wire ‘poking’ a cheek. Visits to our orthodontic office are fewer and further apart than with traditional braces.
How Does Invisalign Work?
Each set of Invisalign™ aligners is worn for a minimum of 22 hours a day for a period of about 2 weeks. The trays are removed only for eating, drinking and oral hygiene (brushing and flossing). After two weeks, the aligners are replaced with the next set, which will apply pressure to continue to move the teeth in the desired direction. This routine continues until the teeth are aligned and straightened to the final position Dr. Shojaei has prescribed. You’ll visit our Aurora Orthodontic office about once every 8 weeks to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned and to pick up the next group of aligners. Total treatment time varies depending on how much tooth movement is required and how many sets of Invisalign™ aligners will be needed to achieve the desired results
